Theatre Nurse Jobs FAQs
A theatre nurse is a registered nurse who specialises in providing care to patients before, during and after surgery. This involves responsibilities such as preparing patients for surgery, assisting the patient during the surgical procedure, providing post-operative care, and more.
The average salary for a theatre nurse is in the region of £35,000. Entry level theatre nurses in the NHS typically start at band 5 (between £27,000 and £33,000 depending on experience). However, in private organisations, this is likely to vary and depends on the individual organisation. A theatre nurse salary can vary depending on several factors, including, location, experience and the type of organisation you work for.
To become a theatre nurse, you must be a registered nurse with the nursing a midwifery council which means either pre-registration nursing degree or registered nurse degree apprenticeship delivered by an NMC-approved education institution (AEI).
