A phlebotomist’s salary usually varies between £15,100 to £17,800 a year, based on an average of 37.5 hours a week. Your job role at this level will include taking blood samples, maintaining health and safety standards and helping patients keep relaxed. 

The full salary bands for a phlebotomist are:

• Band 2: £10.50-£13.50 per hour umbrella
• Band 3: £12.00-£15.50 per hour umbrella 

Phlebotomists can experience long hours and late nights, but locum work is the easiest way to combat this. Locum work allows you to be flexible with your hours while maintaining similar, or in some cases better, rates of pay.
