Formally known as chiropody, podiatry is the care of feet and lower limbs. We have a variety of chiropodist jobs and podiatry assistant jobs ranging from private hospital settings to NHS GP surgeries, our recruitment consultants provide the best opportunities in the UK.
Entry level, qualified podiatrists tend to earn between £24,907 to £30,615 in their first years. As they advance or become a specialist, an experienced podiatrist can expect to earn between £31,365 to £37,890. Those who become consultant podiatrists or specialist registrars at podiatry surgical level can earn from £45,753 to £87,754.
- Band 5: £18-£21 per hour umbrella
- Band 6: £22-£26 per hour umbrella
- Band 7: £26-£31 per hour umbrella
Given the importance of the profession, there is always a high demand for locum podiatry roles to be filled. As a locum podiatrist, you’re likely to experience a wealth of benefits that are not possible when working in a full-time position. Those include more flexibility over your hours, gaining a wealth of experience in different podiatry environments and receiving your salary in weekly payments.
It is important to note, however, that being your own boss excludes you from having company paid sick leave, maternity/paternity pay and holiday pay, which is something to consider.
