Are you an empathetic Physiotherapist with a keen interest in mental health? 

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Mental Health Physiotherapist to join our fantastic client in Hampshire, Southampton This vacancy is available to start as soon as possible, offering part-time and potential full-time hours per week in a locum role. Essential Physiotherapist applying must have previous experience working with Mental health.  

Duties will include:  

  • Responsible for leading, planning and co-ordinating the delivery of care for adults with Mental Illness admitted to the inpatient units or living in the community.

  •  Influencing clinical decisions and monitoring the quality of patient care provided through utilising and maintaining expert clinical knowledge relevant to own field of practice, underpinned by theory and expertise. 

  • To meet the physiotherapy needs of patients and their families to achieve improved health outcomes and promote health and wellbeing, while demonstrating care, compassion, competence, communication, courage, and commitment.  Care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity and is patient/client centred, culturally sensitive and evidence-based and which promotes independence. 

  • To take a role in the specialist physiotherapy intervention to patients as part of the specialist team, assessing and treating own caseload of patients who may have a complex presentation and maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner. 
    Undertake evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and participate in research and audit.

     

The Successful Candidate should be/have: 

  • A registered Physiotherapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) 
  • They need to have experience of working in mental health due to the complex nature of the patients. 
  • An understanding of Physiotherapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach 
  • Excellent communication and time management skills 
  • Ability to manage highly demanding clinical presentation 
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19
