We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist specializing in Adult Mental Health to join a dynamic Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in Cornwall.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis:

    • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments of adult patients within the CMHT.
    • Provide accurate and timely diagnoses based on clinical observations and assessments.
  2. Treatment Planning and Implementation:

    • Develop comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
    • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support patients in their recovery journey.
  3. Medication Management:

    • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications as necessary.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and guidelines related to medication management.
  4. Collaboration and Teamwork:

    • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals within the CMHT.
    • Participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and clinical reviews.
  5. Risk Assessment and Management:

    • Conduct thorough risk assessments for patients with complex mental health needs.
    • Develop and implement risk management plans to ensure patient safety.
  6. Clinical Leadership:

    • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to junior medical staff and the wider team.
    • Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Qualifications

    • Qualified Psychiatrist with full GMC registration.
  2. Specialization:

    • Substantial experience in Adult Psychiatry with a focus on Community Mental Health.
  3. Communication Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  4. Team Player:

    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Problem-Solving Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in clinical settings.
  6. Commitment to Continuous Professional Development:

    • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
