Job Description:

We are seeking skilled and compassionate individuals to join the new NHS Children and Young People’s Gender Service (London) in the role of Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist or Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.
The post holders will provide a highly specialist psychology service to NHS Children and Young People’s Gender Service (London), including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
The post holder will provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to junior staff and be a source of clinical expertise to the multi- disciplinary team. You will enable other staff, service users and carers from diverse background to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
The post offers opportunities to develop leadership skills by enabling you to take a key role in a number of exciting service development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to identify the specific needs and concerns of children and adolescents.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to the individual needs of clients and their families.
  • Provide direct clinical interventions, including individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy, to address emotional, behavioral, and developmental difficulties.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams within CAMHS, including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care delivery.
  • Write clear and concise psychological reports documenting assessment findings, treatment plans, and recommendations for ongoing care.
  • Provide consultation and support to parents, carers, and other professionals involved in the care of children and adolescents.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Significant post-qualification experience as a Clinical Psychologist within CAMHS settings.
  • Expertise in conducting psychological assessments and providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and adolescents.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to delivering person-centered care and promoting the well-being of children and adolescents with mental health needs.
