Currently, we are seeking a Band 7 Counselling Psychologist to join a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in Kent.

Job Description: We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Band 7 Counselling Psychologist to join our dynamic Community Mental Health Team in Kent. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality psychological interventions and support to individuals with complex mental health needs within the community setting. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, person-centered care and promote recovery and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans based on the assessment findings and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches, tailored to meet the needs of service users.
  • Work collaboratively with service users, their families, and carers to develop therapeutic relationships and empower them in their recovery journey.
  • Offer consultation, advice, and support to other members of the CMHT, including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure integrated and coordinated care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision sessions to review progress, share insights, and contribute to care planning and decision-making.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans in collaboration with service users and the wider team to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in crisis.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and documentation in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral-level qualification in Counselling Psychology from a recognized training program accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist, with chartered status with the BPS as a Counselling Psychologist.
  • Substantial post-qualification experience working as a Counselling Psychologist in mental health settings, preferably within a community or CMHT setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in delivering a range of evidence-based psychological interventions and therapies for individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships and work collaboratively with service users, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to ethical guidelines and professional standards of practice.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
