Band 7 – Clinical/Counselling Psychologist – Addiction/Trauma – Canterbury

We have an exciting opportunity for Band 7 Highly Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our Addictions Psychology service.

Pulse are seeking an experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our fantastic private trust based in Canterbury, Kent. The post holder will join the trust’s multidisciplinary team to help engage with adults who use drugs and alcohol and trauma to help engage in community-based treatment.  The successful psychologist will be dealing with recovery service, delivering comprehensive assessment, formulation and recovery focussed interventions to people recovering from using substances. The post is available to start as soon as possible, offering full-time hours per week. This is a permanent position. As this is a band 7/8a position, our client will also welcome Newly Qualified Psychologists as well as experienced candidates. 

Ideally, you will have previous experience working with addictions and be compassionate, patient and a problem-solver. The post holder will ensure that people who access our services receive high-quality care that adheres to best practice guidelines. The post holder will aim to reduce distress and improve the psychological well-being of people who access the trust services.   

The role includes:

• Providing psychological assessment, formulation, and interventions – working closely and liaising with the MDT/RSPT to develop comprehensive formulations and care plans.
• Delivering individual and group-based treatments focusing on skills and strategies to manage complex and distressing emotions.
• Adapting standard interventions to the demands of the Team working, including brief crisis interventions and working with families, carers, and other community members.
• Delivering and/or evaluating trauma-informed approaches to care, particularly by introducing team formulations.
• Developing specific training to enhance the systematic provision of psychological interventions offered to service users.
• Reflective practice, supervision, consultation.

To be considered for this role, you must:

• Hold a doctorate in either Clinical or Counselling Psychology
• Be HCPC registered
• Have previous experience with addictions
• Be analytical and show good attention to detail
