Role Overview: The post requires advanced knowledge and experience of providing holistic Occupational Therapy interventions within a mental health setting, with additional understanding of physical health needs. Rehabilitation goals are set with each client and the occupational therapist works with the MDT to facilitate the service users to engage with the local community and maximising independence. A broad knowledge of statutory and non-statutory Community resources greatly assists with this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals’ functional abilities, environmental factors, and personal goals to develop personalized rehabilitation plans.
- Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions, including activity analysis, adaptive equipment provision, cognitive rehabilitation, and home modifications, to support clients’ rehabilitation goals.
- Deliver individual and group therapy sessions, focusing on maximizing clients’ independence in activities of daily living, vocational pursuits, and community integration.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, social workers, and support workers, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Offer education and support to clients, families, and caregivers on adaptive strategies, self-management techniques, and community resources to facilitate successful rehabilitation and reintegration.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and adhere to professional and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
- Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Minimum of Band 6 experience working as an Occupational Therapist in community rehabilitation or a related setting.
- Strong clinical skills in conducting assessments, developing rehabilitation plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions to promote recovery and independence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and willingness to work in London.
