Job Title: Band 5 Occupational Therapist – Acute Medicine Occupational Therapist

Location: Great Yarmouth

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated Band 5 Occupational Therapist with inpatient mental health experience to join our team in Chesterfield. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work within an inpatient setting, providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and develop your skills in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting assessments of patients’ functional abilities and needs within an inpatient mental health setting.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans under the supervision of senior occupational therapy staff.
  • Providing therapeutic interventions to support patients in managing their symptoms, improving coping skills, and enhancing their overall well-being.
  • Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and integrated care delivery.
  • Supporting patients in engaging in meaningful activities and promoting their independence in daily living tasks.
  • Participating in team meetings and case conferences to contribute to the development and review of patients’ care plans.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist in an inpatient mental health setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to delivering person-centered care and promoting recovery-oriented practices.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of patients and the organization.
