Position Overview: We are currently seeking a passionate and compassionate Band 5 Occupational Therapist with a specialization in the care of the elderly to join our esteemed team in Hertfordshire. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults by delivering tailored occupational therapy interventions to promote independence, enhance quality of life, and support overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of elderly patients’ functional abilities, mobility, and daily living skills.
  • Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to address specific needs and goals.
  • Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions, including therapeutic activities, adaptive equipment provision, and environmental modifications.
  • Support patients in maintaining or regaining independence in activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on safe and effective strategies for managing age-related challenges and promoting optimal functioning.
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and social workers, to ensure holistic and coordinated care for elderly patients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Previous experience working with elderly populations in a healthcare setting, preferably within the care of the elderly or geriatric rehabilitation.
  • Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with elderly patients and their families.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for older adults.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the unique needs and challenges of working in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (if required for community-based visits).
