Job Title: Occupational Therapist (Band 5/6)

Location: Worthing

We are currently seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic team in Worthing, providing essential support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

 

Position Overview: The Occupational Therapist role is to provide Occupational Assessments and Interventions with a focus on: relapse prevention, establishing roles and routines, promotion of recovery, meaningful activities, psychoeducation and facilitating discharge from the Inpatient ward. 
The role includes assessments in home environments to identify O.T interventions and equipment needs as part of Discharge planning.
 
A significant part of your time would be supporting Discharge Planning through Occupational Assessments and Interventions including the use of: O.T Screening tool, O.T Assessments informed by the Model of Human Occupation, Menu of O.T Interventions and Sensory Interventions. 
Group work is an important aspect of the Therapeutic Programme on MapleWard and you would have the opportunity to be part of the development and coordination of this.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ occupational performance and functional abilities.
  • Collaborate with clients to establish meaningful goals and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to address clients’ cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
  • Provide support and guidance to clients in developing coping strategies and adaptive skills to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure integrated care and holistic treatment approaches.
  • Monitor clients’ progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in a mental health setting.
  • Strong assessment, planning, and intervention skills, with a focus on client-centered care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
