Working as a locum speech therapist
In a locum speech and language therapist job, you are granted unique opportunities that don’t come with a full-time, permanent role. For example, you are able to choose your own shifts, and you have the option to gain experience in a number of healthcare organisations, including the private sector and the NHS. With nearly 14,000 SLTs practicing within the NHS, schools and private practices in the UK, it’s a great time to begin a career as a locum speech therapist.

Our expert recruitment consultants specialise in finding jobs in the speech therapy field, including positions in acute, school settings or the community – in both the NHS and private sector.
We provide a wide variety of locum and permanent roles, covering all levels from speech therapy assistant jobs to band 5, band 6 and band 7 speech therapist jobs.
As a locum worker, your rate of pay will be discussed with your consultant. A few factors are involved in negotiating your overall pay, including experience, specialist expertise, location, and setting. London living costs are also taken into consideration, and uplifts are applied where relevant.
Should you be looking for a permanent role, your annual salary offer and remuneration package will be discussed with your consultant at Pulse during your application.

- Band 5: £18-£21 per hour umbrella
- Band 6: £22-£26 per hour umbrella
