Position: Senior Registered Nurse – Coventry

Salary – Up to £28,700
Hours: Full time- 37.5 Hrs. 

Role Purpose: 
To promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of all patients, employees and visitors
To ensure that standards of patient care are consistently maintained at all times in accordance with agreed operational policies and as a skilled practitioner.

You’re Core Responsibilities: 
To identify, plan, implement and evaluate care/services offered to their customers within the ward environment through effective systems of documentation and communications.
To promote professional development within the team.

Key Accountabilities:
Co-ordinate, plan, implement and evaluate the care of individual patients.
Participate as an active member of the nursing team as a whole.
Ensure all Health and Safety policies are read, understood and complied with as far as is reasonably practicable.
Act as a resource for bank and agency staff to ensure full understanding of all H&S requirements
Be responsible and accountable for encompassing a range of activities, which develop and encourage good practice to prevent harmful and or adverse events happening to patients’ visitors and or staff.
Maintain safe custody, registration and administration of drugs.
Observe all relevant revenue capture processes.
Provide assistance to Medical staff as necessary to maintain a professional approach at all times.
Discuss and contribute to new ideas for the development of patient care services.
Participate in the Quality Assurance programme and contribute to the identification of situations that result in non-compliance of standards and or where services and practice breakdown. Assist in the resolution and improvement of the above.
Participate in the setting and maintenance of Clinical Standards and Clinical Audit
Supervise and organize the work of junior, bank and agency staff.
Provide support and guidance for junior and unqualified members of staff.
Ensure that operational policies and procedures are maintained and complied with, advise Senior staff of any amendments considered desirable.
Assist in other areas of the service as required.
Exercise economy in the use of drugs, dressings and equipment, providing a safe and cost  effective service.
Participate in the induction of newly appointed staff.
Work with senior staff to develop an environment that is conducive to continuing education and training.
Conduct yourself professionally within the standard and framework provided by the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Maintain active registration with the NMC and own clinical and professional development in nursing. Attend relevant study sessions in accordance with NMC and PREP guidelines.
Report patient, visitor and staff accidents, incidents and complaints as required.
Role model for the team.
Provide leadership for nursing team
Participate in ward management.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Qualifications: 
•Registered practitioner with NMC registration
•Good interpersonal and communication skills
•Ability to work as part of a team
•Knowledge of clinical governance
•Good organizational and supervisory skills
•Mentorship/Teaching certificate desirable
•HDU experience desirable
