Supported by a strong tradition of excellence in healthcare, that features state of the art equipment and world class surgical specialists; 2 fully integrated laminar flow operating theatres, 8 recovery bays, a discharge lounge, and 13 consulting rooms.

Job Description

The role of the Senior Recovery Nurse / Surgical Practitioner is to lead by example, demonstrate established clinical skills, and work independently without direct supervision to provide an efficient private patient recovery service. 

This role is full time permanent Monday to Saturday. Shifts patterns vary. Competitive Salary of up to £35,000 plus a vast range of employee benefits are available. 

This is a busy, varied and rewarding role for a Senior Recovery Nurse / Surgical Practitioner as you will be covering a vast range of specialist minor procedures, investigative or operations requiring minimal postoperative recovery time. Specialities; Ortho, ENT, Plastics, Gynae, Cosmetics and Ophthalmic.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Delivery of high quality patient care and support upon leaving the operating theatre, monitor the patient's health and wellbeing. Providing appropriate care and treatment until the patient has recovered from the effects of the anaesthesia and/or surgery.
  • Assess and advise the patient to ensure they can be discharged. Completing all necessary medical documents and discharge paperwork.
  • Assess the care given during each of the perioperative phases
  • Support the Theatre Manager in developing and managing an efficient private patient surgical service.
  • Facilitate effective communication between medical, nursing, clerical and all other relevant staff within the department.
  • Demonstrate analytical abilities and a sound problem solving approach to day to day issues as they occur.
  • Act as a role model and a resource to other members of the theatre team
  • Ensure prompt session start times and minimise session over-runs through effective forward planning and organisation. Completing all patient records. Preparing theatre lists. Supporting with same day admission and discharging of patients. Participate in in house training to enhance your clinical skills and share practice within the team.

Skills & Experience

A Registered Recovery Nurse / Theatre Nurse/Practitioner. Thorough knowledge of recovery nursing. Excellent team motivational skills and commercially focused. Exceptional communication and customer service skills. Ability to work flexibly with various shift patterns Monday to Saturday from 6am – 10pm.
