We are currently looking for a committed and flexible orthopaedic nurse specialist to join our busy inpatient team allowing you to flex your hours to suit both home and work commitments.
We believe patient support plays a critical role in delivering a positive outcome for the patient. As our orthopaedic nurse specialist nurse you will be ward based providing assistance and information to patients as an essential part of their care. Patients benefit from the dedicated approach of the orthopaedic specialist nurse throughout the duration of their treatment. The specialist nurse provides a friendly face on arrival explaining the procedure and clarifying the details of the prognosis and rehabilitation. They also connect the patient to other members of the multidisciplinary team if necessary. The orthopaedic nurse specialist offers post discharge support for patients to help with queries regarding symptoms and medication.
We offer the full range of orthopaedic investigations and treatments ranging from the simple to the most complex surgery provided by leading consultants. Surgery is performed in dedicated operating theatres with laminar flow to minimise the risk of infection. Patients are cared for on both our day care and inpatient wards by our dedicated team. Part of your role as the orthopaedic nurse specialist you will provide clinical expertise and advise to the nursing teams in both inpatient and outpatient departments. You will be responsible and accountable for your own practice within the clinical area and for delivering a high quality service to all patients whilst identifying areas for development and implementing and evaluating change.

This is a full time Orthopaedic Nurse Specialist position for 37.5 hours per week.
To be successful for this position you need to be:
Have extensive orthopaedic experience and a necessary orthopaedic qualification.
Have an ability to transfer skills through a variety of clinical areas including ward and out patients.
A recognised teaching qualification and mentorship experience is also desirable.
