Once you have arrived in the UK, you’ll likely still have a little further to go on your journey before you reach the final destination. We’ve put together a list of the major UK airports and transport links from each of these to help you prepare your onward travel.

Heathrow

By taxi:

By train:

  • Find out more and pre-book the Heathrow Express, which runs from London to Paddington.

  • The Piccadilly line runs from Heathrow airport and provides links into London. You’ll be able to change underground lines in order to reach other major stations. Plan your journey here.

Gatwick

By taxi:

  • Depending on which terminal (North or South) you fly into, you can pre-book a taxi.

By train:

  • Gatwick is served by four train operators which directly connect you to 120 stations in the UK.

  • The Gatwick Express provides a direct service to London Victoria, and it runs every 15 minutes in peak periods. There are two trains per hour to Brighton during peak times. You can save 10% if you pre-book. For tickets, click here.

  • Southern provides services across London and the South-East, including London Victoria, London Bridge, Clapham Junction, Brighton, Southampton, Eastbourne and Portsmouth.

  • Thameslink connects Gatwick to Brighton, London and Bedford. Thameslink also provides a direct train to Luton Airport Parkway.

  • Great Western Railway runs an hourly service between Gatwick Airport and Reading, via Redhill, Reigate and Guildford.

  • You can buy tickets for any rail service at the station or the rail ticket desk in the Onward Travel area in the South Terminal. Some airlines sell Gatwick Express tickets on-board. You can also buy Gatwick Express tickets from the Moneycorp bureau and Airport Concierge desks across the airport, as well as Gatwick Connects desks in the baggage reclaim halls.

Stansted

By taxi:

By train:

  • The Stansted Express runs from Stansted to London Liverpool street every 15 minutes. The journey takes 47 minutes, and you can pre-book tickets.

Manchester

By taxi:

By train:

  • Trains from Manchester airport to Manchester Piccadilly station (in the city centre) take around 20 minutes. They run every 10 minutes, 7 days a week. For more information, and to book tickets, follow this link.

East Midlands

By taxi:

  • Arrow Cars is the airport’s exclusive private taxi hire. You can find out further information and pre-book travel by clicking this link.

By train:

  • The main stations around East Midlands airport are:

    • Derby train station is 12 miles from the airport. This station connects you to Sheffield, Chesterfield and Birmingham, as well as other destinations in the north and west of the UK.

    • Nottingham train station is 12 miles from the airport and will connect you to and from Lincoln (and the east of the UK).

    • Long Eaton train station is just 7 miles from the airport and will take you to and from London as well as destinations in the south of the UK.

  • The frequent Skylink bus will get you from the airport to the stations listed above.

Belfast

By taxi:

  • The International Airport Taxi Company is the airport’s official taxi operator. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are located outside the right-hand door of the airport exit lobby.

Belfast International airport isn’t served with any rail links. However, there is a shuttle service (the Airport Express 300) which operates every 15 – 20 minutes on weekdays and weekends. The bus stop is located opposite the terminal exit. Find out more here.
