Pulse Mental Health, a leading recruitment agency specializing in mental health services, is seeking a dedicated Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry with Dementia Experience to join our compassionate team.

Position Overview: As a Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry with Dementia Experience, you will play a vital role in providing specialized psychiatric care to older adults living with dementia. You will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to assess, diagnose, and manage the complex needs of individuals affected by dementia, ensuring the provision of high-quality, person-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of older adults with dementia, including diagnostic evaluations, cognitive assessments, and mental health screenings.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each patient, focusing on symptom management, behavioral interventions, and psychosocial support.
  • Provide expert psychiatric consultation and advice to healthcare professionals, families, and caregivers involved in the care of individuals with dementia, promoting collaborative and holistic care approaches.
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of treatment interventions, adjusting management plans as necessary to optimize outcomes and enhance the quality of life of patients living with dementia.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary care planning, risk assessment, and therapeutic interventions to support the well-being and safety of individuals with dementia within various care settings.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Completion of core training in psychiatry and relevant experience in old age psychiatry with a specific focus on dementia care.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent professional body.
  • Excellent clinical skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of dementia and related behavioral and psychological symptoms.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-working abilities.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals with dementia and their families.
