Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) Sister / Charge Nurse

Location: Sutton / Surrey, UK

Salary: £40,047 – £45,839 (annual) depending on experience

Role: Permanent, Full-Time position

Pulse nursing are looking to recruit an experienced Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) Sister / Charge Nurse to join a leading private hospital in Sutton / Surrey! This can be a very easy and simple commute from London!

The remarkable hospital has 92 private rooms each with en-suite facilities, six operating theatres including 3 laminar flow theatres, a level 3, 8-bedded critical care unit an endoscopy suite, imagine department, outpatient facilities and more!

They require the candidate to have recent experience in an  ITU environment! Their critical care department combines HDU & ITU, covering a wide variety of clinical specialties including: cardiac, thoracic, neuro, general surgery, spinal and complex gastrointestinal (GI) and urology. You will be required to ensure high quality care is provided to all patients, support and develop junior staff and work alongside a multidisciplinary team. This will include being able to lead and manage the department as well as mange the team to the best of their ability.

Responsibilities:

  • Problem solving responsibilities
  • Delivery of high-quality care
  • Assist with investigations if incidents in the unit
  • Assist with fulfilling of regulatory compliance requirements
  • Compile reports and present findings at different committees
  • Support / deliver the outreach service
  • Promote effective interdepartmental communication and collaborative working

Candidate Requirements:

  • NMC registration
  • Recent experience in working as a Charge Nurse / Sister in an ITU environment
  • Leadership / managerial experience
  • Ability to manage and prioritise both clinical and managerial duties
  • Proactive / problem solving skills
  • Desirable experience of working within a cardiothoracic ITU
