Position Overview: As a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry, you will be a key leader in providing expert psychiatric care to individuals within forensic settings. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals with complex mental health needs, including those involved in the criminal justice system. This role requires a strong commitment to forensic psychiatry and a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of individuals with mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and formulating treatment plans for individuals within forensic settings.
  2. Providing expert psychiatric input to a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with professionals such as psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists.
  3. Leading and overseeing the implementation of evidence-based interventions to address complex mental health issues.
  4. Contributing to risk assessments and management strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals and the wider community.
  5. Engaging in collaborative work with external agencies, including the criminal justice system, to ensure coordinated and effective care.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Medical degree and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  2. Specialist registration in Forensic Psychiatry.
  3. CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) or equivalent in Forensic Psychiatry.
  4. Substantial experience as a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry, demonstrating leadership and clinical excellence.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  6. Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of the latest research and developments in forensic psychiatry.
