Position Overview: We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Consultant in Adult Psychiatry with Crisis Experience to join our esteemed team. The Consultant will play a crucial role in providing expert psychiatric care to adults in crisis, contributing to the enhancement of mental health services, and ensuring the delivery of timely and effective interventions during critical periods.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rapid psychiatric assessments and evaluations of adults experiencing acute mental health crises.
  • Develop and implement crisis intervention strategies and treatment plans tailored to the immediate needs and safety of individuals in crisis.
  • Provide specialized psychiatric care, including crisis stabilization, risk assessment, and safety planning, in collaboration with multidisciplinary crisis response teams.
  • Coordinate closely with emergency departments, crisis hotlines, and community mental health services to facilitate seamless transitions of care and ensure continuity of support for individuals in crisis.
  • Offer consultation and support to frontline healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, and emergency responders, to enhance their capacity to identify and respond to mental health crises effectively.
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives to optimize crisis response protocols and enhance the overall effectiveness of crisis intervention services.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of specialist training in Psychiatry and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
  • Extensive experience and expertise in providing psychiatric care to adults, with a focus on crisis intervention and management.
  • Strong clinical skills in conducting rapid psychiatric assessments and risk assessments during acute crises.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary crisis response teams.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of best practices in crisis psychiatry.
