Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Adult Psychiatry with Inpatient Experience to join our team in Darlington. The Consultant will play a crucial role in providing expert psychiatric care to adults in inpatient settings, contributing to the enhancement of mental health services in the Darlington area, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations of adult patients in inpatient settings.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices and clinical expertise.
  • Provide specialized psychiatric care, including medication management, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention, to adults experiencing acute mental health symptoms.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers, to coordinate care and ensure holistic support for patients.
  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and clinical supervision sessions to discuss patient progress, treatment strategies, and service improvements.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance the quality and safety of psychiatric care in inpatient settings.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of specialist training in Psychiatry and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
  • Extensive experience and expertise in providing psychiatric care to adults in inpatient settings.
  • Strong clinical skills in conducting psychiatric assessments, crisis management, and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field of Adult Psychiatry.
