Description

Pulse is currently seeking an empathetic Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our NHS client’s orthopaedic team based in London. This vacancy is available to start as soon as possible for an initial period of 2 months. 

As a Band 7 Orthopaedic Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation and recovery of patients with orthopaedic conditions. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and implement occupational therapy interventions, ensuring the highest standard of care for patients. Recent experience working with acute orthopaedic in-patients; including trauma, elective and general surgery is essential.

Duties within this role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementing safe and timely discharge from hospital for patients
  • Carrying out independent assessment
  • Educate patients and their relatives/carers of post-operative regimes
  • Help to prevent post-operative complications
  • Prescribing complex equipment such as hoists
  • Assessment of patient progress and rehabilitation
  • Being professionally and legally responsible for own work

Skills and experience needed:

  • Strong clinical assessment
  • Manual handling
  • Experience of supervising and teaching more junior staff and of day to-day operational leadership
  • HCPC registration
  • Previous experience in a similar setting
  • Relevant degree/qualification – in occupational therapy
