We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6) to join our esteemed client base in the vibrant city of London.

Job summery:

Provide a rapid response, senior occupational therapy assessment and treatment of complex patients within A&E, ACU, acute wards and patients referred from the community in order to prevent admission to hospital and promote early discharge.

·    Provide supervision and appraisal to Band 5 Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapy students on placement (as required).

·    Participate in on-going service development within IIT in relation to Occupational Therapy practice and within Therapy Services.

·    Work in a challenging socioeconomic environment involving patients who have highly complex social problems and those from culturally diverse backgrounds.

·    Deputise for Band 7 Occupational Therapist in their absence taking responsibility for operationally managing allocated parts of the service.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Duties:
    1.    Undertake the specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and implementation of therapy interventions of clients with complex physical disabilities as an autonomous practitioner.  This includes using analytical, clinical reasoning skills and appropriate outcome measures. 
    2.    Carry out high level clinical decision making within agreed response times, to support A&E four hour targets. 
    3.    Analyse and clinically reason the risk assessment required for the physical moving and handling of complex, dependent patients to further their rehabilitation and the socio-environmental risks associated with rapid discharge home.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Proven experience working as an Occupational Therapist within mental health settings.
  • Sound knowledge of mental health conditions, treatment modalities, and therapeutic approaches.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
