Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated Band 6 Perinatal Occupational Therapist to join our team in London. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with individuals and families during the perinatal period, providing specialized occupational therapy interventions to support their mental health and well-being. Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting comprehensive assessments of individuals’ functional abilities and needs during the perinatal period, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial aspects.
• Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on clients’ goals and objectives, focusing on promoting maternal mental health, bonding with the infant, and supporting parenting skills.
• Providing therapeutic interventions to address a range of perinatal mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjustment difficulties.
• Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including perinatal mental health specialists, midwives, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure integrated and holistic care delivery.
• Providing education and support to individuals and their families on strategies for managing perinatal mental health challenges and optimizing the transition to parenthood.
• Facilitating perinatal groups and workshops on topics related to mental health, parenting, and self-care.
• Monitoring clients’ progress and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Minimum of two years of post-qualification experience working as an Occupational Therapist, with experience in perinatal mental health.
• Strong clinical skills and expertise in conducting assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions within perinatal settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
• Commitment to delivering person-centered care and promoting recovery-oriented practices.
• Knowledge of perinatal mental health issues and interventions, including attachment theory and infant mental health.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of clients and the organization.
