Position Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Acute Occupational Therapist (Band 6) to join our esteemed team of healthcare professionals. In this role, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises, contributing to their recovery and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients in acute mental health settings to determine their occupational therapy needs and develop tailored treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions aimed at promoting functional independence, enhancing coping skills, and facilitating recovery.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and holistic care delivery, including psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, and social workers.
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions and therapeutic techniques to address a range of occupational performance issues, including activities of daily living, vocational pursuits, and leisure activities.
  • Monitor patients’ progress, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes and promote recovery.
  • Participate in discharge planning and liaise with community resources to support patients’ transitions and continuity of care.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Substantial experience working as an Occupational Therapist within acute mental health settings.
  • Strong assessment, intervention, and therapeutic skills, with a focus on crisis intervention and recovery-oriented care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to fast-paced and unpredictable environments.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
