Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Practice Nurse to join a great Primary Care team in central London. The hospital is one of the largest providers of privately funded healthcare in the UK.

As the Lead Practice Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality patient care and leading a team of dedicated nursing professionals. You’ll manage your own clinical case load, dealing with presenting patients’ needs in a primary care setting and work closely with GP’s and nursing colleagues and members of the client’s healthcare team, referring to GP when necessary.

You will also deputize for the Head of Nursing in their absence providing guidance where necessary, conducting annual appraisals and one to ones and training needs analysis when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop a plan of care and treat specific conditions in accordance with agreed professional protocols and guidelines (including prescription of non-prescription drugs following PGDs) e.g. travel health, family planning
  • Be responsible for planning and organising your own workload on a day to day basis and longer term.
  • Provide a treatment service for client employees with minor injuries and illnesses including onwards referral to own GP, in-house GP or hospital emergency services as appropriate
  • Play an effective part of the Infection Control team
  • Follow company policies, procedures and protocols and keep up to date with quality systems, standards and guidelines, help to develop and implement new policies and protocols.
  • Monitor the quality of work in own area and alert others to quality issues.
  • Maintain high standards of communication with patients and clinical team.
  • Maintain high standards for professional record keeping within the nursing team
  • Maintain confidentiality of information while communicating, consistent with legislation and employers policies.
  • Manage own work load within broad guidelines according to demands on the service.
  • Support the Head of Nursing with the primary care audits, vital voices, staff training and development.
  • Oversee training of the Nursing Team, encourage and organise attendance to relevant recognised courses, ensure all competencies are up to date and that all members of the team are compliant with mandatory and relevant clinical training.

Requirements:

  • Have a valid NMC pin on the registry
  • Registered Nurse (RGN)
  • An understanding of the requirements of private patients working in pressurised business environment
  • Understanding of clinical governance and safeguarding
  • MSC in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent
  • Completion of STIP course or equivalent
  • Experience of working with PGD’s
