Applying for a Tier 2 Visa (Health and Care Worker visa)

Eligibility for a Tier 2 General Work visa varies depending on the candidate and client in question. At Pulse, we offer placements to candidates with a tier 2 general work visa. However, we assess this on a case by case basis.

Candidates who have particular experience with specialities that are in demand in the UK meet these criteria.

In order to be eligible you will:

• Be a qualified doctor, nurse, health professional or adult social care professional

• Have a valid certificate of sponsorship for your job

• Demonstrate that you are receiving an appropriate wage for your role

• Prove your knowledge of the English language

• Have personal savings (£945 for 90 days before submitting your application). This is so that you can demonstrate means of supporting yourself when you first arrive in the UK

• Demonstrate your travel history over the last five years

• Show your ability to travel

• If you are working with vulnerable people, you will need to provide a criminal record from any country you’ve resided in for longer than 12 months over the last 10 years. For further guidance on this, and a full list of professions where this applies, please click here

• Have tuberculosis test results if you are travelling from a listed country (for more information please consult the UK government website)

In order to apply for a Tier 2 (General) visa, you will need to meet the above eligibility criteria. The application process for this visa is done online. However, in order to obtain a biometric residence permit (BRP), you will need to get your fingerprints and photograph taken in person, at a visa application centre. Your BRP must be collected within 10 days of the date you said you’d arrive in the UK.
