Salary – up to £40,000
Hours – Full Time – 37.5 Hrs

My client has an opportunity for an Outpatient Manager to join their team of staff in the Outpatients department. This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

The successful candidate should meet the following criteria – 

• NMC Registered
• Experience in Leading and Managing and out-patient services department
• Outstanding leadership skills with experience in a clinical senior post within an acute setting.
• Independent sector experience (desirable)

Role Duties - 

Provide management support to the pre- assessment sister to ensure the pre-assessment service is managed efficiently and in line with local and national guidelines.
To be involved with the management of the phlebotomy/histology service in Outpatients ensuring that all aspects of the pathology processes are compliant with policy and procedures and service provision is smooth running.
To help maximise the operational and financial performance of the department, working closely with the senior management team, ED, DoCS, HoDs / leads and other stakeholders including consultants.
To manage the consistent delivery of customer expectations in all aspects of the patient experience, and instil a culture of customer service throughout the departments and monitor effectiveness and success via patient satisfaction, clinical incidents and complaints.
Responsible for Clinical Governance activities within the Out Patient and Pre-assessment Department. 

Key Accountabilities -
To act at all times in accordance with own Professional Code (NMC) including responsibility for revalidation.
Be accountable to the DoCS for the organisation and control of departments, ensuring continued development, motivation and performance of clinical staff.
Maintain measurable standards of care.
To determine nursing priorities and plan patient care according to staff availability and skills.
Keep abreast of developments in nursing by attending relevant courses and maintaining an up to date personal portfolio.
To carry out safely and professionally, all nursing treatments and procedures.
To assist in the training and orientation of new members of staff and junior colleagues.
Maintain professional confidentiality within the department.
To liaise effectively with Consultants ensuring that medical instructions are carried out promptly and correctly.
Be aware of the key principles of the mental capacity act and be confident with the escalation plan for issues associated with safeguarding vulnerable adults and the protection of children.
To exercise economy in the utilisation of resources.
To ensure that all clinical and legal documents completed are accurate and legible.
To execute agreed Hospital policies and develop local SOP’s as appropriate.
To produce and oversee a rota ensuring adequate staffing with appropriate skill mix.
Maintain professional standards in accordance with the NMC and HCPC codes of professional conduct.
Attendance at clinical governance and heads of department meetings and all other hospital meetings as required.
Ensure Outpatient department is compliant with the national paediatric standards as required for service provision. 
Ensure compliance with standards in respect of all legislative requirements (including but not limited to CQC, SHE, DSE, Fire, COSHH, BLS, Manual Handling, Safeguarding Children, Information Security, and Infection Control)

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:

Outstanding leadership skills with experience in a clinical senior post within an acute setting.
Independent sector experience (desirable)
Proactive and driven to succeed with a proven track record of delivering against targets
Good organisational and planning skills, including risk management.
Able to make judgements involving complex facts or situations which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of Human Resource policies, tools and techniques, including interviewing, conducting performance reviews and formal HR processes e.g. disciplinary.
Able to communicate clearly with a range of people at differing levels across the hospital, deploying a range of techniques to do this effectively.
Must be a Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
Knowledge of professional codes and guidelines and their implications for practice.
Knowledge of the Care Standards Act and Care and Quality Commission Requirements.
Knowledge of Quality Assurance tools.
