My client has an exciting opportunity for an Ophthalmology Nurse to join the Outpatients team at Bristol. The hospital only treat NHS patients and they focus on providing the best possible, personalised care to the people of Bristol, Bath, North and North East Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, as well as to the wider community, including Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

The hospital offers day case and in-patient surgery across the following areas: dental surgery, ear, nose and throat procedures, endoscopy, general surgery, gynaecology, minor orthopaedic surgery, diagnostic imaging, pain management, ophthalmology, and urology. In addition, we also provide diagnostic services, using the latest X-ray and ultrasound technology.
Working as a member of the multidisciplinary outpatient’s team you will assist in the efficient running of the ophthalmic outpatient and perioperative service. This will include coordinating the patient's hospital admission from pre-admission to discharge, ensuring that their needs are met and that an efficient and effective service that meets the required standards of relevant regulatory bodies is provided. In addition, your role will be to organise and undertake the pre-admission screening of selected patients ensuring they are fit for surgery at the given site on the date allocated.
Skills & Experience:
To be successful in this role you will have:
Proven experience in an ophthalmic setting using effective techniques for eye examination and assessment of visual function, including visual acuity, biometry, IOL Master, tonometry, drop installation
Experience in post operative assessment and investigations
Demonstrable understanding of the needs of patients presenting for surgical assessment with a range of ophthalmic conditions
Demonstrate ability to assess visual function using knowledge of abnormal ocular physiology to anticipate effects of the person’s vision
NMC Registered Nurse with recent Ophthalmology theatre and/or outpatient experience
Proven training records to perform biometry
Physical examination training and skills
