Position – Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse - Surrey

Salary – Dependant upon experience.
My clients hospitals are supported by dedicated optometrists and healthcare technicians and over 60 consultant level ophthalmic surgeons who provide a wide range of procedures including Clarivu (refractive lens exchange), laser vision correction, cataract removal, glaucoma, AMD and cosmetic procedures.
As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the Ophthalmic service at the hospital, including surgery. You will provide excellent care to all patients, with specific responsibility for pre-operative assessment, peri-operative and post-operative care in the surgical and refractive suite of the hospital, which may include diagnostic testing and theatre scrub along with assisting with minor operations. In addition, you will work closely with clinical colleagues and the Patient Services Team to ensure a comprehensive and highly skilled level of patient-centred care is delivered to all ophthalmic patients within the hospital.
Purpose of Post
The job holder will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the Ophthalmic service at the hospital including surgery.

They will ensure a comprehensive level of care provision ensuring the patient is regularly updated to encompass change and will deliver highly skilled patient-centered care to all ophthalmic patients within the hospital.
They will assist in maintaining an ‘out of hours’ emergency patient service for quality standards and continuity of care. They will adhere to the principles of clinical governance and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to assist in providing the most efficient and effective level of service.
Registered General Nurse
Evidence of ongoing professional development
Qualification in operating practice (useful but not essential)
Familiar with the relevant devices that are used within the theatre environment
Significant general nursing experience in pre, post and peri-operative assessment and care
Ability to work within necessary boundaries
Effective written and oral communication skills
Problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to deal with challenging behaviours
Ability to act as a resource for colleagues and staff
Strong IT skills i.e. good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Managing and prioritising caseload
