Position – Operating Department Practitioner  Ophthalmics - Surrey


Location – Surrey

Salary –  Dependent upon experience.

My clients hospitals are supported by dedicated optometrists and healthcare technicians and over 60 consultant level ophthalmic surgeons who provide a wide range of procedures including Clarivu (refractive lens exchange), laser vision correction, cataract removal, glaucoma, AMD and cosmetic procedures. 

Purpose of Post

As an ODP, you will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the Ophthalmic service at the hospital, but with a main focus on surgery. You will provide excellent care to all patients, with specific responsibility for peri-operative care in the surgical and refractive suite of the hospital. You will be responsible for supporting the anaesthetic services within the hospital. In addition, you will work closely with clinical colleagues and the Patient Services Team to ensure a comprehensive and highly skilled level of patient-centred care is delivered to all ophthalmic patients within the hospital.


In order to apply for this post you must have the following criteria as a minimum:

ODP qualified – minimum Band 6

Valid HCPC registration

You must also have at least one and preferably two of the following:

ODP theatre experience

Pre & post-operative theatre experience (anaesthetics)

Experience of working in Ophthalmics
