Our client is recruiting for an Operating Department Practitioner - with multi speciality skills, scrub recovery and anaesthetic to join their expanding team, our client offers a continuous learning environment, pioneering and advanced theatre practice.

Our client is a modern, private outpatient, diagnostic and day case surgical, supported by a strong tradition of excellence in healthcare, it features state of the art equipment and world class surgical specialists; 2 fully integrated laminar flow operating theatres, 8 recovery bays, a discharge lounge, and 13 consulting rooms. 

Exclusive location in Cheshire with service hours covering from 6am-10pm Monday-Saturday. 

Job Description:

Our client is now successfully into its 2nd year and as business growth continues and patient activity increases, we are actively seeking to recruit an experienced ODP to complement the theatre team to provide high standards of skilled care and support during each phase of a patient’s care, anaesthetic, surgical and recovery.

This is a busy, varied and rewarding role, covering a vast range of specialist minor procedures, investigative or operations requiring minimal postoperative recovery time. Specialities; Ortho, ENT, Plastics, Gynae, Cosmetics and Ophthalmic. As an ODP you will need to act as a member of the theatre Scrub team operating from our 2 state of the art theatres in our same day surgical centre you will be responsible for providing a safe, efficient service to our private patients.

This Operating Department Practitioner  role is a Full Time Permanent position offering £30,000-32,000 plus a vast range of employee benefits.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Theatre Manager in developing and managing an efficient private patient surgical service.
  • Facilitate effective communication between medical, nursing, clerical and all other relevant staff within the department.
  • Assist the patient prior to surgery and provide individualised care
  • Prepare a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including; anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices, microscopes and lasers.
  • Provide the correct surgical instruments and materials to the surgeon
  • Anticipate the requirements of the surgical team and respond effectively
  • Support the patient on their arrival into the recovery unit
  • Monitor a patient’s physiological parameters
  • Provide appropriate treatment until the patient has recovered from the effects of the anaesthesia and/or surgery
  • Assess the patient in order to ensure they can be discharged
  • Completing all patient records.
  • Participate in in house training to enhance your clinical skills and share practice within the team.

Skills & Experience

Experienced - ODP Practitioner Private healthcare background preferred but not essential. Thorough knowledge of operating room procedures. Team player, confident communication with excellent co-ordination and organisation skills.
