Position –Nurse Practitioner f/t–Hampshire

Our client is looking for Nurse Practitioners to assist in the provision of a quality nurse led service to patients attending the Treatment Centre and Minor Injuries Unit.

Job Summary
The role requires the Nurse Practitioners to work autonomously and within your sphere of competency, whilst being supported by more experienced members of staff. You must be able to assess patients, plan their care, administer treatment and discharge them or refer them as appropriate to other healthcare professionals and/or seek advice and support from a more experienced member of staff. The Minor Injuries Unit requires an ability to work effectively as part of a multi professional team within a fast pace environment.

Key Responsibilities
•Assist the nurse-in charge to prioritise patient care and organise workload. 
•Develop leadership skills.  
•Assist in the orientation and support of new staff to the unit. 

•Communicate and liaise with all health care staff internally and external to the unit. 
•Ensure that identified lines of communication are maintained with patients, colleagues and external agencies.
•Demonstrate the ability to be able to motivate and persuade others through advanced communication skills. 
•Effectively communicate with all patients, relatives, carers and fellow healthcare professionals, ensuring empathy and compassionate care is provided. 

Clinical governance 
•To participate and assist in the systematic monitoring, review and evaluation of service provision through clinical audit. 
•To participate and assist in the setting of standards of patient care based on sound research findings. 
•Work within Clinical Governance framework. 
•Take a personal responsibility to maintain NMC/HCPC registration and professional development in line with the expectations of the role. 
•Promote clinical excellence and best evidence based practice reflecting my clients nursing philosophy. 
•Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and friends at all times. 
•Ensure full and accurate records are maintained and confidentially policy adhered to. 
•Participates in the reporting of Clinical and Non-Clinical Risk Assessments and incidents. 
•Assist in the investigation of verbal and written complaints according to Company Policy within an agreed timescale. 

Clinical Professional Responsibilities 
•Act as a positive role model to staff and patients. 
•Assess individual’s health needs. 
•Provision of holistic care. 
•Administer treatment within local guidelines / protocols and professional scope of practise. 
•To maintain competencies associated with the role ensuring you are working within your own limitations and scope of practice. 
•Administer medication within Patient Group Directions. 
•Develop / maintain advanced clinical skills. i.e. x-ray interpretation, suturing and plastering. •Referral / sign posting to appropriate health professional / services. 
•Provide patient information and education. 
•Work at all times within professional Code of professional practice/conduct. 
•Support the senior nurse practitioner and line manager in addition to colleagues. 
•To participate and assist in the setting of standards of patient care based on sound research findings. 
•Participate in regular clinical supervision. 
•Support and supervise junior staff/students. 
•Assist with the triage role as appropriate. 
•To maintain standards of infection control within the unit and during clinical care and to assist patients to maintain their own infection control needs. 

Skills & Experience
•Relevant post registration experience including experience in: - An acute setting. - Primary Care experience or another related area. 
•Experience of working autonomously. 
•Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team. 
•Experience within Emergency Departments and / or Primary Care environments. 
•Evidence of ability to work unsupervised. 
•Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. 
•Ability to demonstrate clinical expertise and knowledge of audit. 
•Demonstrable critical reasoning skills and decision making. 
•Demonstrable evidence of multi-professional / multi-agency working. 
•Ability to prioritise patient care. 

•Experience of Paediatrics care and assessments. 
•X-ray Interpretation 
•Evidence of knowledge in: - current professional issues -health promotion -clinical governance -national initiatives e.g. NICE guidelines -pharmacology -evidence based practice 
•Provide evidence of experience in physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment e.g. portfolio.

•1st level Registered Nurse with current registration with the UK Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) or registered with own professional body. 
•Registered Paramedic – FDSc or BSc qualified and registered with HCPC
•Minor Injury/Ailment modules 
•Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). 
•Post registration qualification. Desirable
