Their Hospital based in Surrey has a vacancy for an Oncology Nurse Manager to join their team of staff in their Oncology department.

This post is for 37.5 hours per week to meet the needs of the business.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • A university degree or relevant professional qualification in Oncology/Cancer
  • Considerable experience at senior management level or above
  • Significant previous experience of working in oncology or cancer services
  • Previous experience of teaching/assessing with a relevant teaching qualification desirable
  • Considerable experience of delivering against challenging performance management programmes meeting a range of key targets and making significant improvements
  • Experience of having worked with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation, to achieve successful outcomes for patient care
  • Experience of financial management and budgetary control in a large organisation. 

Duties of this role include:     

  • The Nurse Manager for Cancer Services will lead across cancer services within the  Hospital, in agreement with the Executive Director and Director of Nursing/Clinical Services, on initiatives to develop and modernise effective Oncology patient centred pathways from diagnosis to discharge.
  • The post holder will be a specialist resource as part of a network for all cancer related matters and will work clinically as well as providing management and service development.
  • Provide leadership in the development of clinical services by ensuring the use of evidence based practice and clinical standards within the cancer service,
  • Alert the Executive Director and Director of Nursing to any operational or governance issues within cancer service, to allow escalation of potential BMI wide issues to the Director of Oncology.
  • Ensure that cancer pathways are delivered to the standard and quality expected by the hospital and external regulatory bodies,
  • Support the Executive Director and Director of Nursing/Clinical Services and Director of Oncology, in developing collaborative alliances with all stakeholders to ensure the delivery of person-centred cancer care,
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement which focuses on the provision of high quality safe and effective care, allowing staff to maximise their potential and underpinned by honest, open communication and team working across disciplines,
  • Develop appropriate mechanisms for accessing the views and facilitating the involvement of service users and carers in the development and delivery of cancer services.
