Their Hospital based in Hampshire has a vacancy for a Lead Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern that includes weekend work.

Lead Theatre Practitioner Role Purpose:

  • To provide quality planned care for patients during their peri operative phase of care by ensuring that all team members deliver quality evidence based care, in accordance with the agreed operational policies and procedures.
  • To support and assist in the management and organisation of care provision within the Operating Department. 
  • To provide relevant and appropriate clinical and managerial leadership throughout the department.
  • Deputise for the Theatre Manager as required.

     

    Core Responsibilities:

    Working in the role of Lead Theatre Practitioner, You will be required to:

  • Lead in the delivery of patient care.
  • Lead in the provision of effective communication channels within the specified team and the theatre department.
  • In conjunction with the Theatre manager and Quality, Health, Safety and Risk manager identify risk issues via on-going assessment and support the implementation of remedial action, monitoring and evaluating outcomes.
  • Develop, mentor and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self.  Identifying training needs and promoting a climate conducive to continual professional development. Also recognising the potential for succession planning.
  • Promote best evidence based practice within own scope of practice and be an active contributor to quality development programmes.
  • Apply legislation, policies and procedures correctly.
  • Respect the patient’s dignity, privacy, wishes and beliefs.
  • Participate in all human resource activities, ensuring that performance reviews are conducted on a timely basis.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of all services and introductions of new initiatives.
  • Responsible for the planning and response to daily operational activity for the specified team and Theatre.
  • Effectively contribute to the achievement of all key performance indicators.
  • Ensure that ‘Safer Surgery’ policy is implemented.

     

     

    Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:

  • Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • External Advanced Scrub Practitioner qualification. (desirable)
  • Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills across a range and varied patient case mix and competent across a range of skills (desirable)
  • ENB 998 and/or mentorship course (desirable)
