Position – Governance Manager– Hertfordshire


Location – Herts

Salary – depending on experience

Working with highly qualified GPs, medical consultants, dentists, support staff and the most advanced diagnostic and imaging equipment available in the industry enables us to deliver an exemplary standard of patient care in addition to an extensive range of medical and dental services and treatments all under one roof.

This role is likely to evolve and expand as the company progresses.

Scope of Role

The Governance Manager is responsible for ensuring One Stop Doctors has a robust governance and risk management framework which complies with current legislation and the requirements of regulatory bodies including the Care Quality Commission as well as meeting One Stop Doctors commitment to be a quality healthcare environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for all aspects of governance to ensure the highest possible standards are maintained.

  • Act as the Information Governance lead within the Company

  • Ensure the Company complies with the IG Toolkit and is compliant with the Data Protection Act.

  • Support the Medical Director in developing and maintaining robust and integrated clinical governance processes

  • Support the Governance Committee process, attending IG and Governance meetings, producing agendas, minutes and action logs.

  • Present reports and information to the Governance Committees for approval.

  • Continually review and update Company Policies in the areas of governance, quality and CQC regulation to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practice.

  • Maintain an effective version control system for all primary policies ensuring updates and new policies are approved by the Senior Management Team and made available to all staff

  • Monitor CQC compliance in all areas and coach and mentor managers to promote awareness and understanding of fundamental standards and CQC requirements.

  • Participate in new service and building developments to give governance and compliance advice.

  • Attend and participate in Medical Advisory Meetings

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through shared learning

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Good standard of general education

  • Graduate with relevant degree

  • Specific qualification in health and safety, information governance, compliance or quality management

  • Minimum 5 years in healthcare in governance, risk management or related field.

  • Use of Information Governance Toolkit

  • Experience of project management and working to deadlines

  • Excellent computer skills training [word, excel, powerpoint and access programs]

  • Experience in preparation and delivery of training activities

  • Experience of managing the CQC registration process

  • Experience of management of complaints process

  • Detailed working knowledge of CQC standards, auditing & development of improvement plans

  • Good knowledge of all aspects of CQC registration process

  • Knowledge of related legislation – Health and Social Care Act, Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information & H&S at Work.

  • Understanding of the role of the Caldicott Guardian

  • Information of Data Flow Mapping

  • Sound judgment and confident in own analysis and processes.

  • A flexible attitude able to work alone and as part of a team

  • Ability to work flexible hours including occasional weekends
