Position – Dermatology Nurse Consultant- Nottingham

Role Summary

The successful candidate will exercise advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care. You will provide advanced clinical skills and advice demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with chronic skin disease. You will monitor and lead improvements to standards of care through; supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence based practice, the teaching and supporting of professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. 

The successful candidate will lead the chronic disease management service and will manage a team of nurses.  You will lead the implementation of relevant research into practice contributing to further development of the evidence base through research and audit.  You will also contribute to clinical governance within the service by leading audit and research.  

Qualifications and skills: 
• RN Level 1
• Evidence of CPD
• Masters Degree or equivalent in health related subject 
• ENB 998 or equivalent teaching course
• Certification from the British 
• Dermatological Surgery Group
• Independent Nurse Prescriber
• Minimum of 5 years experience at Band 7 or above within specific specialist area of Dermatology.
• Must possess a proven track record and have demonstrable formal research expertise, knowledge and skills
• Must be able to disseminate information in both written format and in public speaking forum
• Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a wide range of approaches to the management of patients , demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning
• Advanced expert level of knowledge of specialist area in nursing. Previous experience of formal presentations to multi professional group
• Previous experience of student supervision and clinical education at undergraduate level
• Evidence of continued professional development-reviewing current practice and research developments within specialist area and application to clinical practice
• Experience of facilitating change by collaborating with stakeholders within specialist area, across other professions and both intra and inter organisationally to produce innovative practice and service development showing improved patient outcomes


• Expert advanced clinical practitioner
• Competent IT skills
• Ability to lead: within the nursing profession and multi-professional working; within an organisation and across organisation boundaries
• Excellent time management and organisation skills 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrating the use of a variety of media/IT skills
• Ability to manage change and contain conflict ensuring resolution with positive outcomes, with use of negotiation skills
• Ability to translate and integrate evidence based research/guidelines into the development of local pathways of care
• Able to perform emergency duties
• Professional demeanor
• Physically fit and able to comply with the Manual Handling Guideline
