National Testing Programme – providing COVID-19 tests to our workers

All key workers in England and members of their household are eligible for coronavirus tests.

Who is suitable for testing?

Any frontline worker working for Pulse, who may have been showing symptoms of COVID-19 or any individual in their household who may be symptomatic of COVID-19 are eligible to be tested by the National Testing Programme. If you have developed symptoms of COVID– 19 within 3 days, the test will be effective. The National Testing Programme is there to support return to work of frontline workers.

How do I arrange a test?

If you live in England, you can apply directly for testing filling in the GOV.UK self-referral form. To manage demand, there may be times when the application form is temporarily closed, if this is the case, please contact your consultant who will find an alternative way to secure testing.

Once you’ve completed the registration form, you will be offered to book an appointment at one of the 30 testing drive-through sites or be sent a home testing kit. Kit numbers will initially be limited, so everyone is encouraged to attend a test site if possible.

You are only able to attend a test site if you or a member of your household has a car.

The testing process

The test involves taking a swab of the nose and the back of the throat by the person assisting you.

Getting results

After sending the sample to be tested and analysed, the government aims for test results from drive-through sites to be sent by text within 48 hours. Home testing kits results take up to 72 hours after collection.
