Dave’s weekly Pulse shift brings more than just extra cash

ITU nurse Dave qualified just over ten years ago and has a permanent nursing job with the NHS. Once a week, to supplement his income, he works an extra shift through Pulse and tells us about its other more unexpected benefits.

“I was apprehensive about working in a new hospital when I first started agency work – the thought of working in an unknown environment was quite nerve wracking. However, without exception, all the staff members I have worked with have welcomed me onto their wards and made me feel part of the team.

My confidence has increased greatly, and I now feel entirely comfortable making decisions in different ward environments. I’ll always remember the time I was asked to look after a celebrity – I wasn’t bothered about their fame, I was just glad to realise how little it fazed me. I’m proud to look after all my patients, regardless of their status or background.

Working with Pulse gives me the flexibility to pursue my interests outside work – cycling, playing guitar and travelling – whilst earning some extra money. I tend to work my shifts in one of four hospitals and love the variety that this brings. I liaise with my Pulse consultant on a weekly basis – they know what nursing jobs I want and only offer me suitable shifts so the process is quick and easy. Every point of contact with them has been a top-notch experience and I’m proud to wear my Pulse uniform.

I would recommend Pulse to anyone looking for nursing jobs that provide flexibility or wanting to supplement their income. It’s such a great way to learn new practices, meet new people and increase your personal and professional confidence. I’ve never looked back.”

Pulse have hundreds of nursing jobs in different locations and positions to suit anyone. If you’re interested in working with us – whether for days, nights, weekends or ad-hoc shifts – we’d like to speak to you. Simply register your interest here or contact us.
