Pulse Jobs has an exciting role for a female senior nurse to take a huge step into their career and become a ward manager of a female acute independent ward based in Newark, Nottinghamshire. The client brings together a unique approach to the delivery of care where the individual is embedded in the heart of all aspects of care. Their aim is to set new standards in the delivery of specialist care through their strategic network of sites which provide a complete pathway of care. The unit provides low secure care for up to 47 female patients over the age of 18 years with a diagnosis of severe enduring mental health, personality disorder or learning difficulties.
To be successful in the role
- To be a qualified RMN/RNLD/RGN
- To have worked at a senior level for a minimum of 2 years within a health setting.
- Experience of managing a team
- Ability to take responsibility for daily operational ward management
- Up to date on current nursing practice
- Effective leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
- Ward budget/resource management
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure a safe and effective duty rota for the ward nursing team, exploring safe provision of the service through skill-mix review, allocation of workload and allocation of staff.
- To investigate complaints and untoward incidents occurring on the ward and compile responses and action plans. Ensure all untoward incidents are reported through the IR1 Reporting System and action accordingly.
- To ensure that all policies, procedures, guidelines and work instructions that relate to the wards are regularly reviewed and updated if required.
- Undertake a unit wide role when on duty in terms of ensuring the overall cover for the hospital and providing senior clinical nurse advice and support on issues as they arise.
- Actively participate in the recruitment and selection process for nurses within Elysium Healthcare.
- To work closely with the Consultants for the achievement of effective patient management ensuring that individual consultant care protocols are followed.
- To work closely with MDTs to ensure they are able to deliver their part of the treatment pathway effectively and where there are issues that may prevent this, they are communicated effectively, and solutions found.
- To develop clinical audit topics and service evaluations that can be used to promote the success of the unit and ensure high clinical standards.
