Swan Hill District Health, Australia – Registered Midwife

Pulse International is delighted to be working with Swan Hill District Health (SHDH) who are seeking to appoint  registered midwifes on an exciting, once in a lifetime opportunity to live and work abroad in the beautiful region of Victoria, Australia. You will join the team at SHDH in their newly built hospital which will boast a wide range of services.

Swan Hill is looking for a responsible and accountable midwives to provide outstanding support, care and advice before, during and after pregnancy and childbirth. In this role you will be conducting births on the midwife’s own responsibility and to work collaboratively with GP obstetricians/obstetrician.

SHDH is located on the Murray River in rural Victoria approximately 3.5 hours north-west of Melbourne airport. SHDH is a 143 bed fully integrated rural public health service which employs approximately 630 staff and services a 100 km radius area with an estimated catchment area of around 35K people. SHDH is committed to meeting the growing health care needs of the community through their new vision to provide better connected care and to achieve the best care experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for their own practice within the definitions of their current nursing/midwife registration and relevant legislation.
  • Complies with the relevant legislation, standards, code of practice and competencies consistent with the Midwife role
  • Works within SHDH and the Midwifery Unit policies and guidelines
  • Participates in Clinical Supervision and Unit review activities
  • Develops strong professional links and partnerships with GP obstetricians/obstetricians and other midwives
  • Promotes safe and effective midwifery care
  • Communicates information to facilitate appropriate decision making in a manner which protects privacy and confidentiality
  • Assesses, plans, provides, and evaluates safe and effective midwifery care for both low risk and complex mothers and/or babies
  • Demonstrates an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and work collaboratively with midwives and other health care providers

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Valid IELTS/OET Certificate 
  • At least 6 months or more post graduate midwifery experience
