Pulse currently has an exciting permanent opportunity for a senior nurse to work in a small hospice in Reading, Berkshire. The hospice is part of a large charity who provide expert palliative care and end of life care within a beautiful setting to thousands of locals each year. Playing an active role within the team, its all about giving patients the best possible quality of life for controlling their symptoms or providing end of life care. The support offered is tailored to meet individual needs, medically, socially and spiritually.
Full time & part time hours available
Day shifts are from 7am to 7:30pm (12 hours).
Night shifts are from 7pm to 7:30am (12 hours), on a full rotation basis.
£33,613 to £37,875 Per Annum DoE pro rata
Staff ratio is good with three registered nurses and three or four HCAs per shift to care for 12 to 15 patients. Night shifts are two registered nurses and two HCAs
Duties and Responsibilities
- To lead the nursing team in developing the quality of nursing care, acting as a source of support and advice to colleagues and relatives
- Participate in the senior nurse on call rota
- Be a shift co-ordinator after a period of orientation
- Provide support, leadership appraisal and supervision to team members as appropriate
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the service user in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
- Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate individualised care using evidence-based guidelines
- An ability to work in a complex and stressful environment demonstrating effective and appropriate coping strategies
Requirements
- You will be an NMC registered nurse
- Relevant post-registration training
- Palliative care knowledge and experience
