Senior Staff Nurse – Chemotherapy Day Unit

  • Location: London, Euston
  • Hours: Full Time Monday – Friday 8-6pm or potentially 9-7pm on occasion)
  • Salary: £41,775 – £ 46,417 dependent on relevant experience & Skills + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits, and excellent career development)

Responsibilities

As Senior Staff Nurse for our chemo day care unit, you will be responsible for working in a supporting experienced nursing team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of specialist care to ensure that patients are cared for in a safe, caring and comfortable environment. This will include:

  • Meeting medical, physical, and emotional needs by effectively communicating with the patient and their families
  • As deputy to the sister/charge nurse the senior staff nurse is instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are delivered.
  • To be an advocate for the patient, working within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Managing the day-to-day smooth running of the unit and working together with other clinical areas to ensure safe patient flow.
  • Ensure high levels of professional behaviour are always adhered to

Skills & Experience:

  • NMC registered Nurse
  • Experienced/competent in Chemotherapy administration
  • Post registration experience within Haematology or oncology setting or equivalent
  • Clinical skills in Venepuncture, cannulation and the administration of intravenous drugs.
  • Wide and evidence-based knowledge of systemic anti-cancer treatments e.g. chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy etc and the known and lesser-known side effects of these
