School Nurse
Location: Harlow, Essex, UK
Salary: £40,057 – £45,839 (annual) depending on experience
Role: Permanent, Full-time – Term-time only

Pulse Nursing are delighted to have the fantastic opportunity to recruit a School Nurse for a local school in Essex!

This would be to work Monday – Friday, regular hours during term time only. Your hours would be 08:30am – 16:30pm (with a 16:00pm finish on Friday). You will be reporting to the Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo).

They successful candidate will be working within a committed team within the school delivering a variety of services.

Some of your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day medical and first aid operations and duties being the primary first aider of the school
  • Managing the medical room and facilities
  • Control and manage the administering of medicines and medications
  • Follow all health and safety requirements and policies
  • Liaise with a variety of members of the school, including the year group pastoral support manager, attendance manager, designated safeguarding lead and other health professionals (school nurse – external / health services)
  • Keep up to date with records of pupil sickness, drugs administration, inoculations and other medical issues
  • Maintain confidential medical records; these need to be regularly reviewed and updated individual health care plans (IHCP), asthma register and diabetes register
  • In liaison with the SENDCo and/or attendance manager participate in all medical care plan meetings (IHCP) with school staff, parents and medical professionals when needed to enable an individual medical care plan
  • Provide pastoral care and assistance for children who are upset or require personal hygiene related care in order to minimise distress

School Nurse Requirements:

  • To follow safeguarding children’s procedures and to abide by and promote safeguarding and other policies and protocols of the school
  • Confident in using a variety of IT systems/programmes in order to support daily tasks and use record keeping systems
