Our client is now seeking a band 6 Dysphagia trained Speech and Language Therapist to join their Older Adults team within a well-established NHS trust, based in York. The role is available to start as soon as possible, offering full-time hours per week for 3 months initially. Candidates applying will need to have previous experience of working within dysphagia assessment and management within a community setting, to be considered for this role.

Brief description:

The post is working as part of the Speech and Language Therapy Service in Mental Health Services for Older People. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our supportive team. The post holder will be based within TEWV inpatient services in York, also providing support into other services as required. The post holder will work as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team, providing high quality speech and language therapy and advice, for older people with communication and/or eating drinking and swallowing needs. The post holder will become part of a motivated, supportive and focused Speech and Language Therapy Service. Professional supervision (individual and group) will be provided and there are a range of CPD opportunities.

Duties within this role:

  • Managing own caseload
  • Assessment and evaluation of patient progress
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of patient care programmes
  • Giving advice and support to patients and family members
  • Voice OP experience
  • Experience with VF and FEES – desirable

To be considered for this role you must:

  • Acute setting experience – preferable
  • Dysphagia trained – essential
  • Hold the relevant degree/qualifications
