Junior Scrub Nurse

Location: Central London, UK

Salary: up to £41,000 (annual) depending on experience

Role: Permanent, Full-Time position

Pulse is delighted to be working alongside the UK’s largest private Orthopaedic Centre for the theatre team to recruit a Junior Scrub Nurse!

The outstanding centre provides three state of the art operating theatres including interventional radiology and a separate area with 12 patient beds. You will be focusing on providing comprehensive care to perioperative patients who have undergone day surgery.

We are looking for a full-time permanent position to be filled as a Junior Scrub Nurse! You will be working 4 or 5 days a week, Monday to Friday. The clinic is open between 7am – 9pm, and there is optional weekend overtime available at enhanced rates.

While working within a fantastic multidisciplinary team, you will need to be able to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate high standards of peri-operative patient care. You will be reporting to the Theatre Manager and work alongside a team of scrub practitioners working closely with anaesthetic and recovery colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing comprehensive care to perioperative patients who have undergone day surgery
  • Share responsibility for the management and organisation of the operating department
  • Help to ensure smooth, timely and efficient processes and procedures within a safe environment
  • Promote safeguarding and risk management in respect of patients, employees and visitors
  • Liaising with patients, families and consultants
  • Assemble, check and prepare appropriate surgical instruments and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures – any faults need to be reported to theatre manager immediately
  • Coordinate use of supplies and equipment – ensuring all is safe and ready to use as well as monitor and order stock for operative procedures
  • Provide a safe environment for all
  • Support colleagues/team along with operative procedures
  • Contribute to changes in practice ad policies ensuring all policies and procedures are met and followed for NMC and/or HPC codes of practice
  • Maintain safe custody of handling all drugs in accordance with policies
  • Any accidents and complained are fully documents and appropriate manager are informed

Requirements:

  • NMC-registered nurse / ODP
  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in scrub/surgical practice
  • Evidence of clinical reasoning and sound decision-making skills across a varied patient case mix
