International Mental health Nurses – Sheffield

Location: Sheffield

Salary: Band 4 – 5 equivalent depending on experience

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of only three devoted children’s hospital trusts in the UK located in Sheffield.  Providing cohesive healthcare for children and young people that includes community, mental health, and acute and specialised services.

Sheffield’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) treats children and young people with a range of difficulties that are seriously impacting on their mental health and emotional wellbeing. Sheffield’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service teams are based on two sites in Sheffield. Their Beighton team is at the Becton Centre and the Centenary team is at Centenary House. Their (CAMHS) team also has various inpatient lodges including lodges at Emerald Lodge (ages 8-13), and Sapphire Lodge (ages 13-18). Ruby Lodge (for young people with learning disabilities ages 8-18).

Job role

You would be joining a well-established, supportive, and hardworking team that is dedicated to improving outcomes for children, young people, and their families/caregivers. As CAMHS Specialist Mental Health Nurse, you will be an essential member of the multidisciplinary team that provides consultation, assessment, and evidence-based interventions to the children and adolescents being seen at the hospital.

  • Evaluate and talk to patients about their condition and the best way to plan and deliver their care.
  • Build relationships with patients to encourage trust while listening to and interpreting their needs and concerns.
  • Ensure the right administration of medication, including injections, and monitor the results of treatment.
  • Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and try to understand the source of their discomfort.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques to assist patients in managing their emotions.

 

Person Specification:

  • At least 6 months of registered Mental Health Nursing experience
  • Passed the NMC English exam requirements (IELTS or OET)
  • Nurse and Midwifery Council registration – (application must be in process)
  • Passed your Competency based Test (CBT) – but those who have booked this exam will also be considered
  • RMNs that have previous experience in Paediatric Mental health – will consider adult trained nurses that want to do Paediatric are also welcomed to apply
