Pulse Nursing are offering a variety of day shifts for experienced Community Parkinson’s Specialist Practitioner/Nurse in Harpenden Our Community Parkinson’s Nurses provide care to clients with a variety of needs within their home environment throughout the community.

We currently have a new opportunity At pulse for two Community Parkinson’s Specialist Nurses, for full/part time working hours.  Please see below description of role To minimise the effect of PD on patients’ lives by providing crisis intervention, stabilising conditions, and preventing unnecessary A&E attendances/hospital admissions and to decrease the length of hospital stays accordingly

 shifts available from 7:30am to 7:30pm, Monday-Friday hours are flexible

Rates £30-£50

responsibilities includes:

  • To develop and deliver a specialist community based service for patients with Parkinson’s Disease (PD).
  • Acting as an expert authority in Parkinson’s Disease
  • Working closely with Patients/Carers as well as Consultants/GPs/Therapists/Social Services and other stake holders across the primary and secondary care  
  • To build and maintain key working relationships with the Neuro Services

To build key relationships with referring services

Requirement for the nurse:

  • Have work with Parkinson’s for 6 mouths in the last 2 years
  • Must be a meds prescriber and understand PD med.
  • Able to manager own workload
    • Work well on own
    • Triage patients / then seeing patients.
    • Deal with incoming calls from the existing patient cohort – currently if patients call in they are told there is no one in post!
    • Completing admin for each patient.
  • Refer / signpost patients and families to other services (harm prevention).
  • Once appointments start see between 3 / 4 patients a day.  3 if home visits due to travel, 4 if in clinic
  • Car driver is a must
