Description

Pulse is currently recruiting for a qualified Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to work within a fantastic team at a well-established NHS trust located in Lancashire. This placement is available to start as soon as possible for an initial 3-month duration.

The post holder will be providing a SLT service to the young people in contact with the client and to their families, the staff and the partner agencies working with the young people and to the project working across the range of hub placements including with those in, on the edge of and leaving care. The successful candidate will plan, develop and co-ordinate the speech and language therapy service to children with many vulnerabilities and complex communication disorders within the service.

To be considered for this role you must:

  • Relevant experience at a post graduate level
  • Relevant highly specialist experience post qualification
  • In-depth experience within specialist area
  • Relevant experience

Some main duties will include:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop relationships in difficult and challenging situations with vulnerable young people with a range of complex needs and their families.
  • To demonstrate empathy with patients, carers and other professionals, ensuring that effective communication is achieved, particularly where significant barriers to understanding exist.
  • To assess and diagnose, at highly specialist level, the types of communication disorders found in vulnerable young people with a range of complex needs.
  • To work closely with the young people, carers and other professionals to negotiate and agree how to manage their identified SLC needs.
  • To respond sensitivity at all times, in particular when imparting potentially distressing information regarding the nature of the clinical difficulties and their implications
